Across the Universe – November 6, 2009
Across the Universe, Featured — By Sara Sterley on November 6, 2009 at 3:38 pmBelow are some links from around the internets that made me think – or just brought a welcome chuckle - this week:
- Paste Magazine named Blue Like Jazz one of the top books of the decade (congratulations, Don!).
- What does spiritual junk food look like for you?
- Interesting idea in light of Congress passing the $680 billion dollar defense budget this week: add the federal budget as a line item on your paycheck.
- I was liking the new Levi’s commercial until I read this.
- This post cracked me up. Yesterday’s “crazies” are today’s yuppies.
- A high school teacher’s description of the “psot-industrial future.” The chart’s “replaced with” column (skip down to the end of the post) sounds mostly welcome to me. If these changes really occur, they sound like a change for the better for our communities, our families and our faith.
- Sounds like an eye-opening Christmas read…”When our wealth makes every day a holiday, how do you find the humility, stillness and gratitude required to live Christmas in the proper spirit?”
- Publishers Weekly named Angry Conversations with God by Burnside’s own Susan Isaacs as one of the top religion books of the year (congrats, Susan!).
