Richard (Dick) Freed was born in Fairmont, West Virginia but grew up mostly in Centre County, Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, a Master of Arts degree in Classical Languages and Literature from the University of Kentucky, and pursued further graduate study in Classics at The Ohio State University. He has taught Latin, Classical Mythology and Literature, English, History, Comparative Religion at several colleges and universities in the Northeast. He is an ordained minister in the Free Methodist Church USA and has served churches in several states, as well as taught courses in New Testament for persons pursuing ordination. He has been active working with persons with developmental disabilities and the homeless. He currently lives in Bowling Green, Kentucky with his wife Sharon and their son Adam.
