Articles By: Kim Gottschild
Travelling the world and worshipping God with all His people has always been Kim’s dream. Having snagged a German husband along the way, she now resides with her spouse, their two precocious daughters, and their two rescue dogs in Carmel “by the Corn” (as dubbed by the locals), Indiana. Kim has the Tower of Babel incident to thank for giving her a fab career as a world language teacher, but she still manages to find the time her to pursue creative endeavors like writing, painting, and serving as the Assocociate Social Justice Editor for the Burnside Writers Collective.

Cupcake Countenance: Overture
“Dad, I’ve a strange habit,” I confess.
“Yeah, what’s that?”
“We-ell,” I begin cautiously, “I can’t leave the house without checking to make sure the gas stove is off. Sometimes I check it and re-check it five times before I leave. Or I’ll come back in the house a couple of...

Cupcake Countenance: Faith
“Mom, I just can’t wait any longer. I need this gerbil!”
Ella is staring me down determinedly from the kitchen table with narrowed eyes, munching on her after school snack. As I proceed to empty the dishwasher, inaugurating my so-called second shift, I groan inwardly. I don’t want a rodent...

Leap of Faith
Frances peered skeptically over the ledge.
“Are you sure the instructions Lennart gave us were right?” she asked her brother, Emil. “Why would we need to do something so risky? Why would he ask us to do that?”
“You know exactly what the compass said,” Emil replied. “It said that we...
